Regeneration of your own reverse osmosis membranes for reuse. The golf course at La Pineda de Vila-Seca in Tarragona (Infinitum Resort) is one of the pioneers in Spain in regenerating its own membranes for reuse in wastewater regeneration for turf irrigation. This golf course started in 2021 with validation tests under research projects led by Dr. Raquel García Pacheco during her phase as a researcher in the LEQUIA group at UdG, today CEO of Ecomemb.
Tomás Agulló Rodenas, Golf course superintendent at INFINITUM, shares his experience on the regeneration of his own reverse osmosis membranes for reuse, at the round table held on 18 June 2025 as part of the Conference on Circular Management of Membranes for Water Treatment within the framework of the OSMO4LIVES project (LEQUIA,Universitat de Girona).
Infinitum has been collaborating with Ecomemb for more than two years to regenerate its own membranes and reuse them in the same process.
Many of their membranes have an initial lifespan of 14 years.
The implementation of their own regenerated membranes has not resulted in any operational change compared to replacing with new membranes: “They work as always, as before implementing regenerated membranes, with the same pressures, same flow rates, same cleanings and same issues”.
